This video covers the functionality outlined in this guide:
Use Instant Insights to display and compare data from your chosen Mention Streams
Cision One’s Instant Insights tool allows you to create and save customized dashboards so that you can display and compare data from your chosen Mention Streams in a variety of interactive charts and tables. Instant Insights Dashboards can be used to track ongoing issues in real-time and to produce tailored monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc campaign reports for your stakeholders in both PDF and HTML formats.
Creating a new Insights Dashboard
To create a new Instant Insights Dashboard or access an existing Dashboard, select Instant Insights from the main menu or click on the 'Create Instant Insights' Action Button via Launchpad.
Select the Mention Stream drop-down menu.
Choose the Mention Streams you’d like to analyze and compare by selecting the check boxes next to the Mention Stream names. You can select up to 12 by using the search bar or toggle function.
Once you are happy with your selections, click ‘Confirm’ and the Dashboard will update to reflect your preferences. Or, if you prefer to keep things simple, you can select a single Mention Stream to focus on.
Now that you have chosen your preferred Mention Streams, use the toggle function within the drop-down menu below to select the Media Types that you wish to include in your Instant Insights Charts and click Confirm.
These selections will apply to all of the Mention Streams you are comparing for consistency. You can clear these at any time using the reset button at the bottom left.
A full list of the available Instant Insights charts is here.
Use your mouse to hover over and click on different data points. TIP The Graph Icon indicates that you can view the coverage associated with the Chart. You can also click on the Information Icon to view the chart methodology.

To re-order your charts, click on Edit Dashboard at the top of the dashboard. You’ll be able to edit the name of the dashboard there too.
Chart-level settings
You can make changes to the charts, by clicking the three dots button at the top right of the chart widget.

Selecting and comparing different Mention Streams
On Share of Voice charts, you can select additional Mention Streams to be used for individual charts. You can select a maximum of 20 Mention Streams.
On Earned V Social charts, you can choose which Earned Social Streams to compare data for. On Mentions Benchmark charts, you can select a maximum of 10 Mention Streams to analyze across two separate timeframes.
Chart Interval Configuration
You can adjust the time axis (X-axis) of your Instant Insight Charts based on your selected date range. After selecting a date range, you can group your data by different time intervals including:
Days: When the date range is narrow (e.g., Yesterday, Last 3 Days), data can be grouped by individual days.
Weeks: For slightly broader ranges (e.g., Last 7 Days, Last Fortnight), users can choose to group data by weeks.
Months: Larger date ranges (e.g., Last Month, Last Quarter) allow grouping by months.
Quarters: Users can view data grouped by quarter, useful for longer timeframes such as Last Quarter or Last Year.
Years: For the broadest view, users can group data by year, particularly for ranges like Last Year.
Chart Interval Configuration FAQs:
Q: How do I toggle between different time units for the chart axis?
A: You can easily toggle between days, weeks, months, quarters, and years by adjusting the date range for the chart. The available time groupings will update automatically based on the date range you select.
Q: Can I choose to view my data by week or month for any date range?
A: Not all date ranges support all grouping options. For example, if you're viewing data for the "Last 3 Days," you can only group by days. However, for broader ranges like "Last Quarter," you can choose between days, weeks, months, or quarters.
Q: Will this new feature slow down my charts if I'm using large datasets?
A: The feature has been designed to ensure that performance remains optimal, even when working with larger datasets. However, the performance impact will depend on the size and complexity of the data being visualized.
Q: Can I reset the chart settings to their default configuration?
A: Yes, you will be able to reset the chart settings to the default configuration if you find the customizations too complex or undesirable. The reset option can be found in the chart settings.
Q: How do I know which chart types are compatible with my selected metric and axis configuration?
A: The system will dynamically indicate which chart types are valid for your chosen metric and axis configuration, ensuring you only select options that make sense for your data.
Empty State Charts
You can add Key Messages, Streams, or Google Analytics data to empty charts by clicking the Integrate, Select, or Add buttons for the chart you'd like to see data for.
Add Social Streams to your Instant Insight Charts
Users can add social media streams alongside traditional media streams on the same chart to visualize both streams, providing a more comprehensive view of media analytics. This integration is available across multiple chart types, including:
Themes
Coverage Volume and Stock Price
Media Outreach and Coverage Timeline
Key Messages
Sentiment Benchmark
Adding Social Streams to my Instant Insight Charts FAQs:
Q: How do I add a social stream to my chart?
A: To add a social stream, click the three dots in the chart’s settings, then select the “Add Social Stream” option. From there, you can choose the social stream you want to integrate into your chart.
Q: Can I add multiple social and traditional streams to the same chart?
A: In most cases, you can add multiple streams. However, for specific charts like Key Messages, you will only be able to select one monitoring stream and one social stream to ensure the data is clearly displayed and relevant to the analysis.
Q: Will the chart legend be updated to reflect both social and traditional streams?
A: Yes, the chart legend will be updated to show both the social and monitoring streams, making it easy to distinguish between the two types of data.
Q: How does the Sentiment Breakdown chart work?
A: The Sentiment Breakdown chart allows you to select up to 8-10 mention streams, either from social or monitoring sources. It will then display the sentiment distribution for each stream, showing percentages for positive, negative, and neutral sentiment in each segment of the chart.
Q: Can I combine both social and monitoring media data into the same chart for all chart types?
A: Yes, this functionality is available across multiple chart types, including Themes, Coverage Volume and Stock Price, Media Outreach and Coverage Timeline, Key Messages, and Sentiment Benchmark. Each chart will allow you to combine social and monitoring streams for a more complete view of your data.
