Email Setup (DKIM) in CisionOne allows your superusers to configure and verify your domain in CisionOne so you can send emails from your organisation domain rather than the Cision domain.
Setting up your Domain in CisionOne
1. Before you get started
Email setup and domain verification can generally take around 1-2 hours but is quite a straightforward process. You will need the following to get started:
You will need to own and have access to each email domain you wish to connect to the platform.
Access to your email provider’s DNS console. You will likely need to get your IT team involved if you have any questions. NOTE: This is not anything Cision is able to assist you with.
2. Configure your email sending domain
Within the organisation settings there is an ‘Email Setup’ tab that allows your Super Users to enter your sending domain. Most times, this will simply be your organisation's email domain. For example, cision.com.
To access your Organisation settings in CisionOne, click on your initials at the top left of the screen and click Organisation on the list of options. Then select Email Setup.
If the domain has already been configured and verified via our email delivery service, then you will receive an error letting you know that the domain name has already been taken.
If all is successful, a new entry will be created. There is no limit to the amount of domains that can be added. Note: this process does not mean you can send emails via this domain. Verification is still required to link your domain with CisionOne.
3. DKIM details in CisionOne
Once you have selected your organisation’s domain, you will be able to authenticate your domain with the relevant DNS records shown in the table.
DKIM
DomainKeys Identified Mail, aka DKIM, prevents email spoofing, a technique that is used to send emails with forged sender addresses.
Custom DKIM Selector: By default, the system generates a standard DKIM selector for your CNAME. If your DNS records already include a key from another provider, you may need a custom selector instead. Please contact our Customer Support team for help with this process.
SPF
Sender Policy Framework, aka SPF, is an email authentication standard used to verify that the sending email server is authorised to send email on behalf of a specific domain.
MX
Mail exchange, aka MX, record directs email to a mail server. The MX record indicates how email messages should be routed in accordance with the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).
CNAME
A Canonical Name, aka CNAME, record points from an alias domain to a "canonical" domain. A CNAME record is used in lieu of a primary record, when a domain or subdomain is an alias of another domain.
DMARC
NOTE: DMARC is not needed as this is used to receive emails which CisionOne doesn’t handle.
4. Adding to the Provider’s DNS Console
You will need to copy each value into your provider’s DNS console. As previously mentioned, we are unable to do this on your behalf and this will need to be set up by you and your dedicated IT team.
NOTE: Please allow a few hours for the DNS updates to propagate, then attempt to verify them in the CisionOne portal.
Verification
Once set, all information will be verified securely by CisionOne via our email delivery service. This will then get sent back to CisionOne and appear as verified.
5. Allowed Sender Email Addresses (Whitelisting Email Addresses)
The final step is for your Super User to specify which emails you want your users to be emailing from in the platform. This can be done at the top of the page under the Allowed Sender Email Addresses section.
You can type in the name and email address that you want the email address to be sent from. From there you can save your selection, and it will be ready for use. From there, they can save their selection, and it will be ready for use. Please note, the domain needs to be successfully verified before these email addresses can be used.
6. Restricting Email Addresses by Team
If you have access to Team Workspaces, you will be able to select the Team you want your domain to display for. This will restrict email domains for certain Workspaces.
This is useful if you are an Agency customer that might be managing email distribution on behalf of your clients. For these use cases, you can set up and verify domains specific to each of your clients and make them available in their respective domains. This ensures domains are secure and only accessed by the teams that are required to have access to them.
If you do not want to restrict a domain to one team, you can simply allow that domain to be accessible for all teams.

FAQ
Can multiple organisations verify the same email domain?
No. Only one Domain can be configured at any given time. For example, if you set up the email domain for cision.com then no other customer is able to set up that email domain in their account. This is because the domain has already been verified with the Cision email delivery service.
How many domains can be set up?
There is no limit to the number of domains that can be setup in the platform.
What happens when I whitelist/approve an email that is not a part of my domain?
The email will most likely be flagged as spam and suspicious. This is because the email address you are sending from comes from a domain that has not been verified. For instance, if I configure and verify the cision.com email domain but try to send emails from a second domain, then this will likely be flagged as spam since I have not verified the second domain.
