Managing keyword snippets for social streams

Learn how to manage keyword snippets, including how to edit, share, duplicate, delete, sort, and search for them.

All snippets can be managed from the Keyword Snippets management page. To get there, go to Organization settings, then select the Keyword Snippets tab.

The management grid contains the following columns:

  • Name, Description, and Group classification of the snippet.

  • Social Streams: Shows exactly how many streams are currently using the snippet. Clicking this number reveals a detailed pop-up list of those specific streams.

  • Owner identity and available action menus.

The following actions can be taken on the management page:

Creating a keyword snippet

A keyword snippet can be created directly from the management page by selecting New Keyword Snippet. See Creating keyword snippets for social streams for more details.

Editing keyword snippets

Saved keyword snippets can be edited at any time. Once edited, the changes apply everywhere the snippet is used. Before saving, review any streams or reports that use the snippet to understand the impact of the update.

  1. Select the ellipsis next to the required snippet, then select Edit.

  2. On the Edit a Keyword Snippet page, update the Name, Description, Group, or build mode as needed.

  3. Select Preview to check the volume and mentions the updated query fetches in the Coverage Preview pane.

  4. Select Confirm to save your changes. A status message appears confirming update.

Sharing keyword snippets

Keyword Snippets can be shared with any user in the organization or team workspace, with either edit or view permissions.

Note:

Can-edit: the person can edit the snippet. These edits apply to all locations where the snippet is used and for all users with access to it.

Read-only: the person can only view the snippet and cannot make changes, though they can still apply it to their own Social Streams. If the owner edits the snippet, those changes are reflected in the shared snippet and everywhere it's applied.

  1. Select the ellipsis next to the required snippet.

  2. Select Share.

  3. In the Share/Permission window that opens, select the required users, or select Select all to share with everyone.

  4. For each user, select the access level dropdown and choose read-only or can edit.

  5. Select Confirm. The confirmation window shows the user and permission level that will be applied before sharing the snippet and lets you confirm or cancel the change.

Duplicating keyword snippets

You can easily duplicate any keyword snippet. This is particularly useful when you want to make your own editable version of a read-only snippet.

Note: If you duplicate a shared keyword snippet, the duplicate becomes an independent copy and is not linked to the original snippet

  1. Select the ellipsis next to the keyword snippet you want to duplicate, then choose Duplicate.

  2. A new copy of the snippet appears in the list, named "[original name] - copy."

Deleting keyword snippets

Before deleting a keyword snippet, review the following scenarios:

  • If a snippet is not used in any social stream and is not shared, you can delete it.

  • If a snippet is used in one or more streams, remove it from those streams before deleting it to avoid stream failures.

  • If a snippet is shared, transfer ownership to another user in your team workspace or organization before deleting it.

  1. Select the ellipsis next to the required snippet and select Delete.

  2. In the Delete Keyword Snippet confirmation window, select Delete to confirm.

Note:

  • When deleting a shared keyword snippet that you own, the confirmation window allows you to transfer ownership to another user or revoke your own access before completing the deletion.

  • If the snippet is currently applied to one or more Social Streams, a Cannot Delete Keyword Snippet message appears instead, listing the number of stream(s) it's applied to. Remove the snippet from those stream(s) first, then repeat the delete steps.

Sort and Search Keyword Snippets

The Keyword Snippets grid can be sorted by name, description or group name. You can also search for snippets by name or group name.
