Understanding the Outreach Outlet Profile Page in CisionOne

The Outreach Outlet profile page in CisionOne provides a comprehensive view of a media outlet’s structure, contacts, engagement history, and outreach potential. This guide outlines each tab available on the profile and how to use them effectively.


Tabs Overview

The profile is divided into several tabs, each offering a unique lens into the outlet’s data:

  1. Overview

  2. Journalists

  3. Outlet Desks & Child Outlets

  4. Affiliated Media

  5. Activity

  6. Lists

  7. Suggested Contacts


1. Overview Tab

Provides a summary of the outlet’s key details:

  • Outlet Name, Type, Location, Links to Social Channels

  • Language

  • Publisher infromation

  • Phone number

  • Frequency - daily, weekly, monthly and so on

  • Circulation (for print) or UVPM (Unique Vistors Per Month for online sources)


2. Journalists Tab

Displays all known contacts affiliated with the outlet.

  • Name and Role: For example, Editor, Reporter

  • Contact Info: Email, phone, social handles

  • Engagement Score: Based on responsiveness

  • Recent Coverage: Linked articles or segments


3. Desks

Shows the outlet’s editorial structure and related sub-outlets.

  • Desks: For example, Politics Desk, Culture Desk

Target outreach more precisely within large or multi-edition outlets.


4. Affiliated Media Tab

Lists media entities affiliated with the outlet.

  • Affiliated Outlets: Name, type, location

  • Relationship Type: For example, same parent company

  • Shared Contacts or Coverage

Expand outreach to related outlets with similar audiences.


5. Activity Tab

Tracks all outreach activity involving the outlet.

  • Sent Outreach: Emails, pitches, press releases

  • Responses: Replies or engagement from contacts

  • Coverage: Media mentions or articles resulting from outreach

Use this tab to evaluate the outlet’s responsiveness and return on investment.


6. Lists Tab

Shows which outreach lists the outlet is part of.

  • List Names: Campaigns or thematic groupings

  • Date Added: When the outlet was included

  • List Owner: Who created or manages the list

7. Suggested Contacts Tab

Displays recommended contacts based on outlet activity and editorial relevance.

  • Suggested Journalists: Not yet linked to the outlet but likely relevant

  • Reason for Suggestion: For example, similar coverage or shared topics

  • Add to Outreach: Option to include in lists or campaigns

Discover new contacts to expand your outreach strategy.

If you would like an Outlet profile to be updated - use the 'Have An Update?' button. You can then complete all relevant fields along with a message to Cision's Media Research Team with information on the edits you'd like made.
