What are Smart Suggested Contacts?

Contacts are suggested to users based on contents of a list or recipients of a media release/pitch.

Users can now get suggestions for an individual journalist or outlet from their profile as well as from the CisionOne AI assistant.

Smart Contact Suggestions can be found throughout the Outreach part of the platform including:

  • Lists

  • Media Release

  • Pitch

  • Contact Profile

  • General AI Assistant

Based on the content of your contact list or recipient lists the best suggestions will be generated for you.

Note: Smart suggestions do not use AI in any capacity. They are generated using a proprietary algorithm without using any client information.

Accessing Smart Suggestions:

  • For Lists: A “Suggest” button is available at the top of the page

  • For Media Releases/Pitches: A “Suggest” button is available right next to the recipient list

  • For a Journalist or an Outlet Profile: A “Suggest” tab is available when a contact profile is viewed.

Once users click on the "Suggest" button, the AI Assistant panel will open on the right side of the platform screen. A total of 200 suggestions will be included across journalists and outlets, an average of 100 for each category.

Please note that when suggestions are viewed from a contact profile, they will open under the tab and not in a separate panel.

By default, the Smart Suggested Contacts will be sorted by relevance. Users can also sort the suggestions by name using the "Sort by" drop button.

Users will note that for lists, media releases and pitches, the Journalists tab will be automatically selected.

For profiles, the default will depend on whether the contact for which the suggestions are being present is a journalist or outlet. The suggestion list can be filtered by clicking on the journalist or/and outlet tab.

Actions for suggestions

Users can take the following actions with the Smart Suggested Contacts:

  • Add to other list/Add suggested to list: Add selected contacts to existing lists or create a new list using the Smart Suggestions.

    • For lists users will find a “Add to this List” button at the bottom right corner of the open panel. This will add the selected contacts directly to the user's open list.

Note: The “Add to this List” button will only be enabled if the suggestions are generated from the list page and if you are on that list.

  • Send Media Release/Pitch: Create a media release/pitch using the selected suggested contacts.

    • For suggestions accessed via a media release or pitch, users can select suggested contacts and add it to the recipient list of their media release or pitch. When added, suggested contacts will have a different font color to indicate that they were added via the suggestions panel.

  • Copy Emails: Copy over the email IDs of all selected suggested contacts.

  • Download CSV: Download a CSV containing all available details for the selected suggested contacts.

Note: Once a suggested contact is added, it is removed from the current suggestions list. The system will then refresh the list to replace the removed suggestions.

Accessing suggestions via the General AI Assistant

Users can also get suggestions for a list, media release or pitch straight from the CisionOne AI Assistant. Once users select the “Suggest Journalist & Outlets” option, they will be able to interact with the assistant to get appropriate suggestions.

Users will be prompted to select an option to begin generating Smart Suggestions.

Note: The dropdown for the media release/pitch option will only contain drafts.
